Bond 25 Will Use IMAX Film Cameras For The First Time In The Franchise

In a world where we’re getting premium programming at home with services like HBO, Netflix, and Hulu, the folks working in Hollywood are working hard to justify audiences making the trek out to the theaters to see their big blockbusters. As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, there has been a huge uptick in premium reserved seating theaters, and in addition to that, many more movies utilizing IMAX cameras.

The last two Avengers movies were shot using digital IMAX cameras, meaning that audiences would get to see more than 20% more footage at the top and bottom of the screen. However, in spite of how long IMAX has been around, there has yet to be a Bond film that’s utilized the cameras needed to make the experience fully immersive. As revealed by IMAX, Bond 25 will be doing so for the first time. Check out the announcement tweet below!

It is unclear how much of the movie will be shot in IMAX, but it will be using the actual film cameras as opposed to the digital ones used on Avengers: Endgame. More specifically, they will be using the IMAX 15perf 65mm film cameras.

Sadly, we sill have no idea what this movie will be called, but the plot “sees Bond having left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. But his peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”

What do you think of Bond finally using IMAX cameras? Do you think it’ll be worth the extra ticket price? Let us know down below!
