Behold the latest trailer for Rocketman, the biopic of rock legend Elton John starring Taron Edgerton (Kingsman). It seems to be the trend right now with the likes of Bohemian Rhapsody doing so well critically recently that it’s up for several Oscar nominations.
The movie will first release in some territories on May 17th, but won’t hit the UK till May 24th and the US on May 31st. Rocketman also stars the likes of Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Jamie Bell (Fant4stic) among many other great performers.

The movie will cover the earlier years of Elton John’s life that took him from his humble beginnings on towards world stardom. It’s hard to say how far along the movie will go into Elton John’s life, but from what we can tell it appears to be his early days until his heyday in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Rocketman will cover Elton’s descent into show business stress and drugs, and likely explore his sexuality and how it affected him as a performer in the days when homosexuality was shunned.
Rocketman is directed by Dexter Fletcher who you may be more familiar with in front of the camera, having appeared in such films as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Kick-Ass.
I must admit to not being much of an Elton John fan, in fact, I like Queen far more and still haven’t caught Bohemian Rhapsody yet. Rocketman is not the kind of movie I would watch in theaters, but I would certainly give this a watch when it eventually ends up on home release, I will likely do the same with Bohemian Rhapsody as well.
