BREAKING: Jared Leto To Star As Morbius The Living Vampire In Sony Spinoff Film

According to Deadline, Jared Leto is set to the character Morbius in a Sony spinoff of the Spider-Man Universe. Leto, who already plays one of the most popular comic book characters of all time in DC’s Joker, will now join the newest and smallest shared universe in Sony’s, which includes Venom starring Tom Hardy to be released later this year, as well as another spinoff, Silver and Black.

While I have nothing against Leto, I wasn’t a big fan of his Joker. His performance was enough like the other Jokers we have seen, but the character’s appearance was really offputting. That’s not to say I don’t for the most part enjoy Leto’s work. I am interested to see what he will do with this character, as I think his talents as an actor can play well off a vampire character.

Morbius started out as the biochemist Michael Morbius. And, in true comic book fashion a science experiement gone wrong is what gave the character his vampiric abilities which include flight, superhuman speed and strength, hypnotism, and accelerated healing.

As well as Leto starring as the title character, Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) is set to direct.
