Brian K. Vaughan To Pen Live-Action Gundam Adaptation

live-action Gundam

Even if you’re not a fan of anime, chances are you’re at least vaguely aware of the mech genre in the medium. When a lot of people think of anime, chances are giant robots are probably one of the big things most people think about, and for good reason, as they’re still a pretty prevalent genre. But one franchise that’s endured is none other than the Gundam franchise.

Gundam is a series that’s showed up in countless forms since Mobile Suit Gundam (the original series title) first began way back in 1979, and it really rose to prominence in the states in the ’90s when Gundam Wing aired on Toonami. Now, it looks like it’s making the inevitable trip to the big screen in live-action form from the folks over at Legendary Entertainment and Sunrise, the latter of which is the studio that produces the anime.

According to Deadline, comic book writer Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina, The Runaways) is set to pen the live-action adaptation. There is no word yet on if this movie will try to adapt the many stories already out there in animated form or if it’ll be its own original entry, but I’m sure once they nail something down, we’ll know.

Given the moderate success of franchises like Pacific Rim, it is time we got a proper adaptation of Gundam? Let us know your thoughts down below
