We have learned that veteran X-Men director and producer Bryan Singer has been given the reins to direct Fox’s X-Men TV series pilot, created by the talented mind of Matt Nix.

Singer is no amateur to this franchise as he has directed; X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Days of Future Past (my favorite), X-Men 2, and the original X-Men. Let us also not forget that he directed one of the greatest cult movies of all time, The Usual Suspects, and he directed Superman Returns which both another writer and myself here actually liked quite a bit. The Fox X-Men TV series will be Singer’s most recent venture after his TV shows Battle Creek and the Munster’s reboot entitled Mockingbird Lane.

We also need to realize that this show is created by the great Matt Nix, who taught us after creating Burn Notice that Bruce Campbell is more than just Ash from The Evil Dead, Jeffrey Donovan is a total badarse, and that bras are very uncomfortable for women living in the sweltering city of Miami. Nix has not done much since Burn Notice, and I expect him to be on his A-Game for all of us to enjoy his writing with an adaptation of this exciting franchise. He will pen the show and run it alongside other X-Men franchise vets like Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Singer himself and will also join with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. THAT is an exciting team.

Where could this X-Men series take us? If I were to make a solid guess I would expect to see Jubilee as a character in the forefront of the series, and possibly Iceman too. I would love to see Wiccan appear but my guess is that since Wiccan’s first appearance was in Young Avengers #1 (2005) that he is not owned by the Fox. Who else might appear? What are your thoughts? Speak out!
