On Wednesday, Marvel Studios presented a showcase at CineEurope for their three upcoming films: Ant-Man and The Wasp, Captain Marvel, and the yet to be subtitled Avengers 4.

One of the highlights of the presentation consisted of a sizzle reel consisting of behind the scenes footage of Captain Marvel that went into detail about her powers and discussed how she is slated to become the new face and leader of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This presentation proved once and for all that Marvel has mapped out a detailed plan for the future of the character.

If I were a betting man, I would say that we will likely be seeing some footage of the film soon, given that the film is due to be released nine months from now. I could see a teaser being released a few weeks after the Ant-Man and The Wasp premiere.

Although I look forward to seeing Captain Marvel spring into theaters next year, after reflecting on the movie for a bit, I am also a little saddened by the fact that it seems to mark the start of a new era in the MCU. Don’t get me wrong, I am not averse to change. In fact, I feel very optimistic about the future of the MCU. It’s just that in spite of the inevitability, I do not like endings.

What about you guys? Do you feel as ambivalent as I do regarding this news? Do you have any theories about what Marvel might have in store for us moving forward?
