Carnival Row Trailer: Fairies And Creatures Coexist In New Amazon Prime Series

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, attendees were treated to a Carnival Row activation, which immersed them in a world where humans coexist with creatures. However, if you were labeled as one of the many “creatures,” you were treated as less than human, and jerked around, while the humans were warned to stay away from other attendees.

It’s this world Amazon Prime Video is bringing to life in their new fantasy series. We’ve seen glimpses of it so far, but the new trailer is the most we’ve had to see…and it’s honestly a lot different than I expected. Based on the premise, I expected something closer to Bright in terms of pulp campiness, but this one looks to take itself far more seriously and lean heavily into the romantic, melodramatic aspects.

Below is the official synopsis for Carnival Row:

“Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne star in Carnival Row, a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures. Feared by humans, they are forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective and a faerie rekindle a dangerous affair. The city’s uneasy peace collapses when a string of murders reveals a monster no one could imagine.”

This looks like it can either be so melodramatic it’s bad, or so well done in the character department that it helps elevate it from something that could have been more surface-level and lacking.
