Celine Dion Releases Single And Music Video For Deadpool 2, Because Of Course

It pains me to say it, but we no longer live in the days where headlining songs get a lot of traction. It’s been a solid 20 years since Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” came out, and frankly, I don’t think we’ll ever really get another song from her for another big Hollywood film. Ever.

Oh, wait. This just in. It sounds like I was dead wrong, and that Celine Dion has just released a brand-new song and video — this time for the most likely of movies, Deadpool 2. Of course, as you’d expect from the marketing, they play this one pretty straight, with Dion giving a performance you’d expect, and the video undercutting with scenes from the film, almost making it look like a dramatic one.

The other (high-heeled) shoe finally drops when Deadpool comes out in high heels, doing an odd interpretive dance while the song plays — but even that is played relatively straight. It’s only at the very end, when Deadpool tells Celine Dion that she needs to dial it down to a five that they hit the joke home.

I have to say, this is yet another example of why Deadpool 2 — along with its marketing team — has become one of the kings of hyping up their own film. The nature of the character lends itself to the ridiculous antics, and I they’ve managed to surprise me at virtually every turn. What do you think of this latest music video?
