I’m still bummed out that Daredevil was canceled, I absolutely loved all three seasons of the show and it was, in my opinion, head and shoulders above the rest of the Marvel/Netflix output. Obviously, like most fans, I hope that somewhere, somehow Daredevil can be resurrected by Marvel and placed elsewhere. However, we know that this won’t happen for at least another two years due to the exclusivity contract between Marvel and Netflix.
Someone else who would love to see Daredevil get a second chance anywhere is star Charlie Cox. Recently Cox spoke with The Playlist and talked about how shocked and disappointed he was at Daredevil‘s cancellation by Netflix. But the star also talked about how he he’d jump at the chance to play Matt Murdoch again on some other service or movie.
“Oh, yeah. I loved it, man. I would love to get to continue playing that character.”

Cox was also asked if like co-star Vincent D’Onofrio, he’d love to be in something with Spider-Man further down the line.
“Dude, I’d like anything. In the comic books, there are some fantastic Spider-Man/Daredevil storylines. The bottom line is I just absolutely love the show. I love playing the character. It’s still a bit weird to me that I’m not playing the character anymore. It’s kind of impossible for me to really imagine that [a Spider-Man/Daredevil team-up] because it’s been such a long period of my life. It’s such a dream job for me, it’s been such a wonderful experience, that any scenario where I get to continue playing the character, whether it be on a different series, or whether it be in the movies, would be fantastic. I can only hope. It’s almost like I can’t think about it because I don’t wanna get my hopes up.”
As you can see it seems like Cox is open to playing the role again no matter if it’s a toned down version on Disney+ or even appearing in one of the MCU movies. Daredevil and Kingpin would be great additions to a third Spider-Man movie, even if only a small sub-plot or planting some seeds for the future. I’ve always seen that trio of Spider-Man, Daredevil and Kingpin being very closely linked, but perhaps that’s because I grew up watching the 90’s cartoon series The Amazing Spider-Man where Kingpin was the one constant villain throughout the seasons.
