Comic Book Review: Imperium #15

What a chess match we have going on between H.A.R.D. Corps and Harada. The H.A.R.D. team lead by Livewire thought that they were going in unnoticed to take out a group of supply ships heading to the Foundation Zone. Unfortunately for the team as General Akbar would say “it’s a trap”. Harada had anticipated the move and he had is team Gravedog, The Angela Vessel, Lord Vine-99 and Mech Major ready for them. We learn a lot about Palmer one of the H.A.R.D. corps members who takes on Gravedog one on one and we can see that even though they are trying to kill each other there is a lot of respect between them. Also we have Livewire’s encounter with Mech Major, as it turns out may be a major key in the story. When the psiot dampeners briefly went down, Livewire was able to get into Mech Majors system, where she learns that Mech Major isn’t just a robot but a living being, his code seems to write itself. Just as the team is getting together to get extracted from the sinking ship, there is someone coming over the horizon, Toyo Harada. To his surprise, he finds his robot Mech Major now controlled by Livewire. This is going to be a very interesting fight.

I find it very interesting that Livewire a technopath, meaning that she can control computers with her mind, would be such a threat to Harada. So far she has caused quite a bit of havoc, most recently the satellite and now Mech Major. Leave it to the Angela Vessel to always find a way to creep me out, this time with that very strange acid shooting bio-weapon. It was great to see another character get a bit of a spotlight (Palmer) and it was really good to see someone finally be able to get into Mech Major and see what I think he has been trying to tell people all along. That is he in fact not just a robot but a living being of some kind. Even if Livewire wasn’t controlling him, why wouldn’t she try and help him escape the grasp of Harada and allow him to connect to the world like he has always wanted? Next up we will see what Harada has in store for Livewire and the rest of group, since he knew that they would attack that ship. The monkey wrench now his that Mech Major is in Livewires control. How will this affect him if at all? I cannot wait until the next issue to see how this confrontation turns out and being a consistent reader of this series I know it won’t disappoint. Overall this is another solid issue, definitely my favorite series at Valiant to this date, I highly recommend it if you are looking for a quality comic book.
