CW Network Renews Arrow, Supergirl, Among Others

Starting out years ago as the WB Network, the CW has now grown into something not many would have imagined, while they have other shows,  the network has become the landing spot for the successful small screen universe of DC Comics characters. What began with the teenage Superman show Smallville, and now the network is home to Arrow, Black Lightning, Supergirl,The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and soon Batwoman wioll be added to that list.
Today the network has renewed several shows, and half of the renewals are DC properties. The announement was made at the 2019 TCA Winter Press Tour. You can checkout the full renewal list below.
Supernatural for Season 15
Arrow for Season 8
Black Lightning for Season 3
Charmed for Season 2
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for Season 5
Dynasty for Season 3
Legacies for Season 2
The Flash for Season 6
Riverdale for Season 4
Supergirl for Season 5

CW President Mark Pedowitz :

“This season, we expanded our primetime schedule to six nights with the addition of Sunday 00 which has been an unqualified success for the network, our affiliates, and our advertisers. In addition to growing our schedule across the week, we also continue to add more year-round programming. The early renewal of these signature CW series gives us a head start on laying out the 2019-2020 season, and this is just the beginning. These shows provide a strong foundation for our multiplatform programming strategy, and we look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront.”

While I don’t watch a lot of television series that air on network television, and even fewer on smaller networks like the CW, there are a few I’ve loved (one is on CW, more on that shortly) a few I’ve sorta regretted watching, and some I catch a glimpse of and just know it’s not for me.

The CW show I’ve been a fan of for years is Supernatural, or as I call it, The Adventures of Sam and Dean. Any show that can last 14, well with it’s renewal, now 15 seasons, well that’s impressive, most impressive.

While I have always appreciated the Supernatural writers’ efforts to dig deep for unsual myths and lore, some of the best episodes are the more meta ones, where the sow pokes fun at itself, a couple examples would be last season’s Scooby-Doo crossover, “Scoobynatural” and an episode from Season 5 called, “Changing Channels”.
