Daredevil Star Charlie Cox Saddened By Its Cancelation

Unless you’ve been living under a rather large rock the past week, you’ve become fully aware of the cancelation of Netflix’s hit Marvel series Daredevil. Stories have been circulating throughout the entertainment world as to what caused the cancelation of the streaming service’s 4th most popular series. More recently, the finger has been pointed at Marvel itself, with a recent article claiming that Marvel wasn’t willing to adapt to Netflix’s proposed changes, leading to a disagreement and eventually the ending of the series.

The pouring of grief from the fan base comes as no surprise as Daredevil was easily the most popular of the Netflix/Marvel joint projects. One writer conceded to believing the series was “too big to fail.” Within the week, some stars and creators of the series have taken to social media, expressing their sadness over the cancelation and thanking their coworkers and the fans for their support. And now, the actor who played “The Devil Of Hell’s Kitchen” himself has shared his thoughts.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Charlie Cox expressed how the decision to end the series affected him:

“A lot of us really expected to keep going, and I certainly did. The truth is, I felt like we had a lot of stories to tell, and although I understand [the cancellation], I’m very saddened by that… It’s just how business works, but also, these characters mean a lot to people. It’s weird to think there’s a chance I won’t be playing Matt Murdock ever again. That’s a bizarre feeling, because that character has been such a huge part of my life for the last four and a half years.”

As a fan of the character and the actor who portrayed him, I hope there is still a chance that we will see the return of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in the future. Sadly, as of right now, all fans like myself can do is hope… and maybe repeatedly binge seasons 1-3 for a while.
