Dark/Web: Bringing The Series To San Diego Comic-Con | SDCC 2019

We are a day away from this year’s SDCC which also means the premier of Dark/Web, which will be taking place on Friday July 19 (episodes 1-4) and Saturday July 20 (episodes 5-8) at The Hard Rock Hotel. If you have not been able to get tickets for the premier then you should definitely check out the series as it hits on Amazon Prime Video on July 19 as well! In preparation for the big day, I was able to speak with co-creators Michael and Tim Nardelli regarding bringing the series to SDCC!

The Importance Of Premiering Dark/Web At SDCC

Anything related to SDCC is kind of a big deal. Tim suggested how grateful he was in the opportunity to premier the series at a such a prestigious event.  I mean come on, all fans want to go to SDCC let alone have something they created premier at such an event! Fanboys and Fangirls alike view SDCC as the quintessential Con which makes it the perfect place to premier the series seeing as it is catered to us Fanboys and Fangirls who would more than likely either be at the event, or follow the event.  Creating a series, show, film, etc. is ridiculously difficult and I can only image that being able to premier one’s work at SDCC is more than a dream come true.

Meeting A Timeline To Premier At SDCC

The creators wanted to premier the series at last year’s Comic-Con, and possibly even earlier, but they hadn’t initially counted on just how long post-production would take. Michael initially thought that premiering at this year’s event had come and gone. Michael “Shockey” Connally was the mastermind while working with the Nardelli’s and Mascione behind the scenes by submitting a package of materials, the episodes, panelists, hosts, etc. and the creators actually did not hear from SDCC for a while.

Eventually, the stars aligned and things stated to fall into place.  When SDCC invites you to have a panel, how in the world can you turn that down?  Michael Nardelli elaborated on how great it was to receive the invite close to the same time that they found out that they would be premiering the series worldwide on Amazon Prime Video. Luckily, the Dark/Web creators did not have any conflicts when it came to filming, post-production, reshoots, edits, VFX, etc. that disrupted their track of premiering the series at SDCC. Tim revealed that from a production standpoint, everything was completed and ready to go for Amazon, so they were able to focus on putting together a trailer that coincided with the SDCC announcement.  If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, then you HAVE  to check it out at the top of the article.  It’s pretty awesome! Also, Tim wanted to give a huge shoutout to co-creators Michael Nardelli and Mario Mascione for cutting the trailer.

What Can We Expect From The Premier/Panel At SDCC?

If you are one of the lucky individuals who will be attending the premier/panel, then you are in luck! Not only will you get to see an early viewing of the series, but you will also have the opportunity to see the cast/filmmakers discussing their experiences starting back from day 1 as well as an awesome Q&A session. The creators were completely overwhelmed (in a good way) with the response that followed the initial announcement of Dark/Web premiering at SDCC.  After the first 12 hours, the event had already reached full capacity for both nights!  The co-creators have always known how amazing, dedicated, and supportive YOU LRM readers are!  Patience is a virtue and even though the process has seemingly taken longer than expected, the creators are excited to premier the series, but above all, they were all unanimous in their celebration of the LRM fanbase since you all have been a part of this since day 1 as well, and could not think of a better place to premier Dark/Web to such a loyal and incredible fanbase than at SDCC. Michael revealed that if you will be in attendance, then you should definitely stick around until the end as they will have some surprises and giveaways.  Who doesn’t like giveaways!?

Not able to make it to SDCC?  You won’y be left out!  Stay tuned for our continuing coverage and don’t forget to tune in to Amazon Prime Video on July 19.  And remember…we are all a part of it…

What did you think of the new Dark/Web trailer?  Are you attending the event at SDCC?  If not, will you be tuning in on Amazon Prime Video?  Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
