Dave Filoni Says He Isn’t Involved With Star Wars Resistance On A Daily Basis

As many of you know we have another animated Star Wars series in the works, Star Wars Resistance. The anime-inspired series will be set seven years after the Battle of Endor. After the success of Disney’s first Star Wars animated series, it surprised no one to learn the House of Mouse was ready to develop a new show. Dave Filoni , who served as show runner on Star Wars Rebels, and was key in getting Resistance off the ground, recently spoke with IGN and said while

“So right now, Resistance is a bit different, in that I’m not on that day-to-day. I created and set it in motion, but I’ve given that to other people to raise up, people that I’ve worked with a long time, who I think deserve the opportunity to tell stories and I think it’s exciting, and I give them my thoughts and notes – I was just doing that this morning, like George would give me. So that’s fun.”

In all honesty, I would like to see Dave Filoni replace Kathleen Kennedy as the head of Lucasfilm. I feel he understands the Star Wars universe much better. Since I enjoyed Star Wars Rebels so much I am looking forward to Star Wars Resistance. While we are sure to have many more Star Wars movies, I do believe that television is the format of the future, and Disney seems to be testing those waters with Resistance as well as Jon Favreau’s new live-action series.
