DC Universe’s Titans Trailer 2: Alone They’re Broken, Together They’re Titans

Titans has a lot to prove. For those of us inside the United States, it has to justify us spending another $7.99/month to watch it, and to everyone in the world, it has to pretty much convince us that the property is worth turning into a darker story.

The first trailer really did its best to sell that dark angle, showing off some brutal fights as well as the infamous “F**k Batman” line. It was an amazing thesis to fans, pretty much telling us they weren’t messing around, but it did raise concerns that this show would lose its substance in an effort to retain its edge.

While I haven’t seen the show proper, Netflix did just release a new trailer it, and I think this is head and shoulders above the first one. While it may not have the flashy “F**k Batman” line (it almost seems to go out of its way to avoid it), it has a much better story to grasp onto. In it, we get a feel for Dick Grayson’s place in life, his relationship with Batman, and his reasons for wanting to help out Raven.

I get the impression that these characters are indeed broken without one another, and can see them growing as they learn to work together. Simply put, they made me WANT to see these broken people learn to become whole with each other’s help. Questional VFX aside, I think I’m in.
