DCEU Rumor: The Batman And Suicide Squad 2 Antagonists Revealed?

I am going to start by saying that this is firmly a rumor and nothing more right now. YouTuber Grace Randolph has released a new video where she claims to have heard from sources about the proposed antagonists for the upcoming DCEU movies The Batman And Suicide Squad 2. You can check it out below or skip to my summary of the information.

The Batman is, of course, going to be the next Batman standalone movie and is being written and directed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes). There was initially some debate and confusion over whether this movie, or trilogy of movies, would be set within the existing DCEU or be a separate Batman-centric universe. Now we understand that The Batman will indeed be a part of the DCEU, though we are still not convinced Ben Affleck will ever wear the Bat suit again.

Who would the villains be in this movie? Well, there was a lot of talk of The Penguin, though I’m sure that came partially from Josh Gad campaigning to play the classic villain. This was more directed at the proposed Nightwing movie than The Batman, but the speculation ramped up from there.

Now Randolph claims that The Penguin will indeed be in The Batman. However, he will not be the main antagonist of the movie. Instead, the villains of the piece will be The Court of Owls. The reaction to this rumor online so far has been mixed with some really liking it and some thinking it’s all a bit close to Ra’s Al Ghul’s League of Shadows in Batman Begins. Also, quite rightly many fans are not ready to believe this report yet, as Randolph’s scoops have been a little hit and miss, in all honesty.

Randolph also claims that for Suicide Squad 2, the villain was originally planned to be a mind-controlled version of Supergirl (yeah I know, that makes little sense when she hasn’t been introduced as a character in the DCEU yet). However, her sources now claim that the antagonist will instead be Amazo, a character who has the ability to basically copy his opponents’ skills and powers. I could see this working actually, given the Suicide Squad for me should be dealing with Z list threats, rather than the biggest and baddest of the DC universe.

Whilst I am not prepared to put my hat on this rumor in any way, it does seem to make sense and The Court of Owls has been mentioned in speculation previously. However, the best fake rumors have to sound plausible, don’t they?

Let us know what you think of these rumors in the comments section as always.
