Deadpool FAQ Video Acknowledges Disney Acquisition Of Fox

Like many of you, when it was first announced that Fox would be making a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2, my first response was, “Oh, God, why?” I mean, this is a franchise that came out swinging with its first viral video breaking a chair over Mario Lopez’s head at the simple idea of Deadpool being a PG-13 franchise.

So why? Well, there are likely several big answers to that, and in a new teaser released on Once Upon a Deadpool‘s official Twitter account, we get some rapid-fire questions from Fred Savage, who is strapped to a bed against his will. One of the many questions (and there are a lot of them) he asks is why they’d make a PG-13 film. Deadpool’s response is classic:

“It’s a family movie. Also Money. Also Disney.”

Of course, the response is in reaction to 20th Century Fox being (mostly) acquired by Disney, meaning that the likes of Deadpool and the rest of the X-Men and mutants will soon be under the Disney umbrella. There have been reports that this is a testing ground to see if this character could be done in a PG-13 capacity, and with him joining the Disney family, it could perhaps be a necessity.

But don’t take anything he says here as gospel. This is obviously just a fun ad, and you can always expect Deadpool’s response to be just as cynical and jaded as your average film fan, so we’ll just have to sit tight until the acquisition goes through before we jump to conclusions.
