Deadpool: Marvel Reportedly Exploring Ways To Incorporate Him Into MCU

Deadpool is a tough guy to fit into any universe. Given his fourth-wall-breaking nature and his tendency to flat-out break in-world rules for the sake of comedy, one can only imagine the conversations that have been going down over at Marvel Studios at the prospect of bringing him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And apparently, these are talks that are actually happening — if we’re to believe a new rumor from the folks over at MCU Cosmic.

This report comes courtesy of one of the outlet’s most reliable sources, and according to them, Marvel is looking at incorporating Deadpool in one of three ways. The first is a new solo film in the form of Deadpool 3. The second is a Disney+ limited series. Finally, the third is a guest-starring role in Spider-Man 3. So let all of those possibilities sink in for a moment, because there are some extreme implications in there.

For starters, this seems to confirm that they aren’t — at least not now — considering making that X-Force movie we were all waiting for. And if that’s the case, I feel sorry for Drew Goddard, who has lost yet another team-up film thanks to the unpredictability of the industry. Then there’s the idea that two of three of the ideas show Deadpool acting in a PG-13 capacity. I’m not the biggest fan of this, but those folks over at Marvel Studios are talented, so if anyone can make it work, it’s them.

The third big takeaway is that Marvel Studios is either looking at extending their Spider-Man contract with Sony — or they have already worked out a deal that will prolong the character’s stay in the MCU. This is a mildly comforting thought, considering Sony seemed to be emboldened by Venom‘s box office success, but this isn’t a full-on confirmation. For all we know, they could just be going off of possibilities, not sure things…and plus, we still do not know how true this is.

What do you think of this rumor? What do you think is the best way to bring in Deadpool, and are you sad that an X-Force film now seems like an unlikely prospect? Let us know down below!
