Deadwood Films Begins Shooting, Finally

The long-awaited Deadwood film has begun filming, yes this is actually happening. The film has been gestating for years, with fans hoping to finally get closure on the HBO series of the same name. The series was one of the earlier hits for HBO and was set in South Dakota and uses the names of actual people who lived during the time for the basis of the show’s characters.

The show was widely known for its heavy use of cursing, two words, in particular, words which I don’t think LRM would let me say in this article, however, if you are a fan of the show, you know all too well the words to which I am referring. A plot of the film follows below.

“The indelible characters of the series are reunited after 10 years to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds are reopened, as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.”

The show ran for three seasons from 2004-2006, and the upcoming film to close out the series was written by series creator David Milch and will be directed by Game of Thrones alum Daniel Minahan. The film will also see the return of all the major cast members, including Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Paula Malcomson, Dayton Callie, and Robin Weigert.
