Detective Pikachu Casting Video Shows Off TONS Of Pokémon, Plus Special Film Trading Card

I’m still not sure how they pulled it off, but the upcoming Pokémon: Detective Pikachu seems to have cracked the code on how best to translate the usually-hand-drawn versions of the monsters to live-action-esque. I say “esque” because they’re still technically animated, but they’re interacting with real people…so “esque.” But how in the world they actually go about deciding on this overall look for the Pokémon? If you’re wondering that, then prepare to keep wondering, because the new video doesn’t dive into that at all.

Instead, what we’re treated to is an adorable “casting video” where it shows off more than two dozen different Pokémon. From Charizard to Jigglypuff and Squirtle, if you have a favorite monster, then you may very well see one of them pop up in this adorable minute-long video, which culminates in a Magikarp joke. As someone who was duped into buying that thing way back in the late-’90s, I very much appreciated it. But the video wasn’t all they had to share.

It’s probably worth mentioning that tickets are also on sale for the flick, and to help get people to the theaters, they are creating some special Detective Pikachu-themed trading cards that moviegoers can get, including a Detective Pikachu himself, who has a move called Coffee Break, which is a nod to the character’s caffeine addiction.

“Through this first weekend and while supplies last, each guest will receive an exciting two-card pack from the new Pokémon TCG: Detective Pikachu series of collectible trading cards from The Pokémon Company International. One card will be randomly selected from the series currently available at retail locations and featuring select Pokémon in their CGI likeness as seen in the movie. The second is guaranteed to be a limited-edition Detective Pikachu card available to those early-bird fans who are among the very first to catch this first-ever live-action Pokémon adventure on the big screen.”

Will you be picking up your tickets, and what do you think fo the new casting vid? Let us know down below!
