Disney Makes History With Over $7 Billion In Global Box Office

As if the Disney corporation wasn’t already successful enough, 2018 has been a massive year for the company at the box office. Disney is once again set to break the $7 billion mark at the global box office this year, making it the second time the company has done so in its history. In 2016, Disney raked in $7.6 billion worldwide.

Through December 9th, Disney is estimated to earn $4.069 billion from the foreign box office. That high mark is the second time in the company’s history and the third in the history of the film industry. With Mary Poppins Returns set to release on December 19th, Disney is looking at a $2.948 billion domestic take, nearly reaching the $3 billion domestic take the company hit in 2016.

The news shouldn’t come as a surprise as four of the top eight box office hits this year come from Walt Disney Studios. Those four films are as follows:

Avengers: Infinity War. $1.37 billion internationally, $678.8 million domestic.

Black Panther. $647.1 million internationally, $700 million domestic, $1.347 billion worldwide.

The Incredibles 2. $632.9 million internationally, $608.6 million domestic, $1.242 billion worldwide.

Ant-Man And The Wasp. $406 million internationally, $216.6 million domestic, $622 million worldwide.

Disney looks to continue its box office dominance well into 2019 with films like Captain MarvelAvengers: Endgame, DumboToy Story 4Aladdin and The Lion King all being released by July. It’s definitley a good time to be working at the corporate offices of the “Mouse House.”
