Disney’s Live-Action Aladdin Wraps Filming

And…That’s a wrap!

Yes, it is official, Disney’s live-action adaptation of their own Aladdin, directed by Guy Ritchie, has wrapped shooting!

Aladdin’s two young stars Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott both took to Twitter to celebrate their new film wrapping. Check out their excitement below!

Aladdin is set for release next summer, followed by Jon Favreau’s The Lion King in the fall. Massoud plays Aladdin and Scott plays Princess Jasmine, but the real star of the show will likely be Will Smith as the Genie, who has the nearly impossible task of living up to Robin Williams’ own, classic version. But, if Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson can continue a franchise initially anchored by Williams himself in Jumanji, there is no reason why the Fresh Prince can’t also live up to Williams’ legacy.

Now that production has wrapped, it’s time to look forward to the endless marketing barrage from Disney. We have yet to see any official look at the film, but now I’d say we see a cast photo or two before long.
