Doctor Who New Season Trailer Is HERE! New Year’s Day Launch

Behold the latest trailer for season 3760 of Doctor Who, ok, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it’s not far off. We don’t need to know what season order they are using currently (Season 12 since the reboot), all we need to know is that the next Season arrives on New Year’s Day.

This will be the second season to feature the 13th Doctor aka Jodie Whittaker, after making her debut in the previous season along with her companions played by Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill, and Tosin Cole, who are all set to return for the second season of the 13th Doctor.

It would be fair to say that the movie to make The Doctor Female is something the BBC have been setting the scene for since the 12th Doctor’s run. It would also be fair to say it was a movie that caused a little controversy, as you’d expect, but honestly not that much fuss. I certainly had no issue with a female Doctor, however, I did have an issue with the quality of the previous season overall.

I think if they were going to go down the female Doctor route, they needed to make sure they have some kick-ass stories to tell, some real Doctor Who classics that would bring the audiences back in. Instead, I felt like the writing quality just wasn’t up to par with the new showrunner Chris Chibnall. Saying that, I felt like the writing started to head downhill during previous showrunner Steven Moffat’s tenure, especially with the 12th Doctor, who again I liked, but didn’t care for the stories being told.

So will I watch this new Season? Honestly, because it is on New Year’s Day I will most definitely watch that opening episode, but if I am not feeling an improvement this time, I can’t guarantee I will be back for the rest of this Season. For me the best Doctor Who Season in years was the one most fans didn’t like, with Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor, this season seemed to have one on-going story told from beginning to end of the Doctor’s relationship with River Song. For me, that was advancing this format into a more modern era, but since the feedback, they have gone back to single-story episodes with a vague overarching plot for the finale, and it’s just no longer exciting me as a viewer.
