Doom Patrol Trailer Introduces Us To The Team

Well, what do we think of the trailer for Doom Patrol? The show launches on February 15th on DC’s new streaming service DC Universe. It will appear on Netflix internationally though as yet we do not have a release date on the outside of North America.

The trailer introduces audiences to the team here as Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Cyborg (Joivan Wade), Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), Negative Man (Matt Bomer) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) get ready to take on some super villains. The show also features talents such as Timothy Dalton and Alan Tudyk.

The show seems firmly planted in a light-hearted comedy vibe, which is admittedly a little different to Titans where a few members of this team were first introduced. It’s also hard to get a read on this for me as to how connected this is with Titans. A lot seems similar but there are a few differences as well, for example, Chief was played in Titans by Bruno Bichir and yet here will be played by Timothy Dalton. This is the same universe officially, so it’s just a recast, but I guess it’s so soon after I watched the character in Titans that it feels a little jarring.

I have no idea when Doom Patrol will be available to those of us across the pond, Titans just appeared one week on the front screen without any fanfare. Luckily those of you who subscribe to DC Universe will be able to start watching on the 15th. Hope the show is as fun as it has the potential to be.
