Emma Thompson Joins Men In Black Spin-Off In Same Role As MIB 3

After a solid decade or so of development, re-development, and change-ups, a new Men in Black film is on the way in the form of a currently untitled spin-off. Actors Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson have already joined the production, which is set to continues this coming month, but it looks like a familiar face will be joining the set.

According to THR, Emma Thompson has joined the project, and will be reprising her role of Agent O, a character she played in Men In Black III.

Also on board the project are Liam Neeson and Kumail Nanjiani. Set to direct the film is Fate of the Furious helmer F. Gary Gray, who will helm from a script penned by Iron Man screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

This seems to solidify the idea that this will be set in the very same world we saw in those first three films, and will not completely restart the franchise from ground zero. This is a big deal, since, in the past with other reboots, it hasn’t been clear whether or not the canon from previous films would be acknowledged. With her taking on Agent O again, it seems inevitable that they will be making references in the film.

The Men In Black spin-off will hit theaters on June 14, 2019.
