Ewan McGregor Says The Obi-Wan Series Was Originally Going To Be One Film

Along with the music provided by the legendary John Williams, Ewan McGregor’s portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the much-hated prequel trilogy are some of my favorite things about the first three films in the Skywalker saga. As most of you know we are set to learn more about the character in an upcoming Disney+ series.

We recently learned that the series will be comprised of six, hour-long episodes, we also learned that Ewan McGregor is really good at keeping secrets (perhaps he could teach Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo how to not spoil things for us fans), as he has known about the series for four years. Today we learn that the series was originally going to be one film, check out what he had to say while speaking with ComingSoon.net below.

“It wasn’t always going to be a series, not initially. When we first started talking about, that wasn’t really in the cards but everything’s changed so much, so quickly. It’s really exciting that it is now. I’m really into the idea to be able to tell the story over several hours instead of just one hit. I think it’s going to be quite cool.”

While films are the way the franchise began, the platform of television allows for more in-depth storytelling, something most of us have become accustomed to since streaming services became the norm. It seems to be the platform of choice nowadays and while I do think some stories can be told in their entirety over the length of a film, I am all for more usage of television.

Would you have rather had a one-film Kenobi story, or are you glad we got the series? Let us know in the comments down below!
