Fans HATE The New Ghost In The Shell SAC_2045 Teaser

Oh, goodness. Oh me oh my. Ghost in the Shell is a franchise that hasn’t been afraid to…take some risks in terms of animation. Of course, the original film was presented in gorgeous hand-drawn 2D animation, and the second film was pretty stellar as well. The anime series was much less gorgeous, which makes sense given it was a series and not a film. What was perhaps most intriguing about that show as the opening.

It wasn’t presented as the show was — in 2D animation — but in kinda stilted looking 3D animation. Well, it looks like the new series in this long-running franchise is finally taking the leap into CG animation, as indicated by the first new teaser from Netflix.

So…what did you think? Did this look worth checking out, or does the animation look a little too…PS3? As of this writing, the response has been incredibly negative, as indicated by the comments and like/dislike ratio.

Obviously, this has no bearing on the actual content of the show, but as an anime lover, I do lament the trend of using CG models more and more. That being said, it has been done right, and to see that you need look no further than the recent Lupin the Third: The First trailer..but I guess that takes a bigger budget.
