Female-Led Arrow Spinoff In The Works At The CW

Arrow is ending. It was a good run, but it looks like Oliver Queen’s tenure in Star City is coming to a close. But, in true TV style, it doesn’t look like the network is quite ready to say goodbye to the world they helped establish over the course of several seasons.

THR is reporting that the CW is developing a spinoff show that will focus on some of the female characters. More specifically, it will focus on Mia Smoak, Laurel Lance, and Dinah Drake, who would make up Green Arrow and the Canaries.

From the sound of it, they look like they will be utilizing one of Arrow’s last 10 episodes as a backdoor pilot. Beth Schwartz, Marc Guggenheim, Jill Blankenship and Oscar Balderrama will all be co-writing and will act as executive producers, with Schwartz acting as showrunner.

This comes over a month after CW president Mark Pedowitz had hinted at a potential spinoff down the line.
