Disney has just released the first look trailer for the upcoming animated series Star Wars Resistance. The show will hit Disney Channel on October 7, and like the other animated shows, it will take place in that world in-between films. This time around, it will take place before the events in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The new trailer is just a minute long, but a good number of things are revealed, including the tone. As we’d expect, it skews very much towards the kid-friendly, lighthearted tone from previous shows, as the lead, Kaz, is very much a bright-eyed bushy-tailed protagonist. With that will likely come a lot of stumbling and figuring things out along the way, which I’m sure will lead to all sorts of shenanigans.

The animation style is another big change, and will likely polarize many fans, and to be frank, I still don’t know what I think.

Below is the official synopsis to Star Wars Resistance:

“Resistance fighter Poe Dameron tasks young pilot Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono with spying on the First Order. At the time, little was known about the secretive organization and its strength.”

“In order to fulfill his mission, Kaz travels to the space station Colossus, which is being used by many ships as a port to refuel and do repairs. However, there are also dangerous races taking place there. After Kaz bragged with his piloting skills at his arrival there, he is soon drawn into one of the races…”
