Friends: The Unexpected Reason Why A Movie Would Never Happen

Friends is one of those shows that has really stood the test of time. Not only did it absolutely kill during its initial 10-season run, but its popularity on Netflix has proven that it resonates with generations and generations of fans, and currently stands as one of the most beloved sitcoms of all-time.

So, why has there never been any reunion project, like a film? Well, actress Jennifer Aniston recently answered that question when speaking to Variety, saying:

“Because our producers wouldn’t want it, wouldn’t let us. Look, it’s not been without our desire to, because our fans have wanted it so much.”

While this may seem like kind of an obvious reason, I’m actually surprised. I’d always assumed that this was a project that the actors really weren’t interested in. After playing these characters for so long, I’d assumed they’d want to be able to just leave that show in the past as they moved on to bigger and better things.

Instead, it looks like it’s more of a measure on the producers’ parts to ensure that the legacy isn’t tarnished. Probably a good idea, but what do you think? Let us know your thoughts down below!
