Gambit Film To Begin Shooting In New Orleans In March

The future of the Fox Marvel properties may still be up in the air in the wake of the announcement that Disney will be acquiring most of Fox’s assets, but until this deal actually gets approved 12-18 months down the line (once the Department of Justice has their way), these movies will likely stay the course for the foreseeable future.

One such film is the long-awaited Gambit. This is a movie that has been in development for years now. Most recently, it was revealed that they had started over in the wake Deadpool’s success, and now, thanks to NOLA.com, we now know when the film is headed to production.

According to the outlet, the film is set to begin production in March of next year in the city of New Orleans. This is in an effort for the film to make its ambitious February 14, 2019 release date.

Sadly, the budget of the film was unavailable, but back in 2015, the original filing for the film had it pinged at $155 million. However, it’s worth noting that since then, Deadpool hit theaters, and it was all but confirmed that Fox was looking to rewrite the script so that its budget wouldn’t be so ridiculous. Given that Deadpool proved that you didn’t need a big budget to be successful, it’s not unreasonable to assume they’d aim for a smaller budget.
