Game Of Thrones – The One Who Became King In The Show Will Be King In The Books

Lots of juicy bits of Game of Thrones goodness have come out this week thanks to the upcoming release of Season 8 to home platforms. A few videos have been posted including deleted and extended scenes from the eighth and final season. Well, today comes information, as a featurette has revealed that one of the endings seen on the show, will also happen in the books as it came from author George R.R. Martin.

I am of course talking about Brandon Stark, the boy whose love of climbing set the events of the series in motion ended up ruling the continent of Westeros. Fans seemed to be split on this issue. There are many reaction videos on Youtube with fans reacting to the scene. One of the common reactions is, “Bran?!?!” Personally, I never had much of an issue with this choice. Bran is best to wield this power as he desires it the least of anyone in Westeros.

Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister on the series:

“Bran is the only probably pure person in there, and the fact he cannot father children is key because they’ve repeated the cycle in this Westerosi history of heirs being really bad.”

My biggest complaint about Season 8 isn’t really with the endings themselves, but more so how we reached those endings. One of the best things about GoT was the almost unbearable build up to that was usually met with a more than satisfying payoff. The wonderful pace of storytelling was absent in Season 8, and Season 7 as well, but in my opinion not nearly to the same extent.
