Game Of Thrones: We Now Know The Owner Of The Infamous Coffee Cup

Game of Thrones’ final season was infamous — not just for fans’ hatred of it, but for some of the weird catches on-screen. On more than one occasion, audiences were able to spot something that really pulled the series out of its medieval-inspired time period. We all know where I’m going with this. I’m talking about that damned coffee cup that launched a million articles and a worldwide search for more similarly anachronistic flourishes.

Meanwhile, the internet played the blame game, with Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) being the most likely culprit, thanks to her proximity to the coffee cup in question. But, as it turns out, she was not the culprit. Several months later, the truth came out, as Clarke revealed to Jimmy Fallon.

The guilty man in question is none other than Conleth Hill, who played Varys in the series. Clarke recounted the following to the talk show host:

“And Conleth, he pulls me aside and he says, ‘Emilia I’ve got to tell you something. The coffee cup was mine.’”

Dun-dun-duuuuun!

We didn’t know it all along, but I’m more than happy to pretend I did. Did you know that Varys himself was the actual culprit? Let us know your thoughts down below!
