Annabelle Comes Home: Director Gary Dauberman on Finally Helming The Franchise He Wrote

Although James Wan is the masterful storyteller of The Conjuring universe, writer Gary Dauberman was there the entire time with the Annebelle films as a writer along Wan’s side.

After 2014’s Annabelle, 2017’s Annabelle: Creation and last year’s The Nun, this horror screenwriter not only penned Annabelle Comes Home, but also makes his directorial feature film debut on materials he is very familiar with.

Annabelle Comes Home tells the next chapter of this horrifying doll as it sits in a protected case in the basement of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s house. As the adult Warrens leave the house for an assignment, a babysitter and her friend unknowingly unleashed the evil spirit of the doll to create the ultimate nightmarish scenario.

The film stars Mckenna Grace, Madison Iseman and Katie Sarife along with Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson.

Dauberman also wrote the scripts for It and the upcoming It Chapter Two. He helped created the television series The Swamp Thing and is also attached as the screenplay writer for Are You Afraid of the Dark?

LRM Online sat down with director Gary Dauberman on his experiences and the lore of the other artifacts in that basement.

Annabelle Comes Home is playing in theaters nationwide tomorrow.
