Get Out Director Jordan Peele Is Done With Acting

Hope you’ve already got your fill of seeing Jordan Peele on the small or big screen, because it sounds like he’s pretty much done. Prior to last year, the actor-director was likely best known from his comedy-sketch show Key and Peele, and from there, he and co-star Keegan-Michael Key went on to star in the action-comedy film, Keanu.

Well, get used to only seeing his name on the big screen, as when speaking with CBS Sunday Morning (via EW), he declared his retirement when asked if he was done acting.

“That’s the idea. Daniel Day-Lewis and I are both out. Acting is just nowhere near as fun for me as directing.”

Of course, his reference to legendary actor Daniel Day-Lewis was a joke (as much as I love Peele, he’s no Day-Lewis), but that doesn’t take away from the impact and seemingly final nature of the statement.

For someone like me, I only see this as great news. Get Out was one of the biggest surprises of last year, and I’d much rather see more of his work as a writer and director than as an actor. His involvement with the upcoming Twilight Zone reboot is a good start, but he’s also mentioned having a whole batch of original social horror films in the past, and we’d love to see those come to fruition.
