Godzilla: King Of The Monsters On Track To End Theater Run At $400M Worldwide

The MonsterVerse seemed to be on the right track. Not only were its first two entries praised critically for the most part, but There was even a slight upward trajectory between Godzilla (2014) and Kong: Skull Island. And with Godzilla: King of the Monsters, we had more monsters than we could shake a stick at…so more could only mean great revenue for the franchise, right? Sadly, it doesn’t look like that will be the case.

According to Gitesh Pandya, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is en route to hit a franchise-low worldwide cume. In a recent tweet from the Box Office Guru founder, the worldwide numbers were broken down, and they weren’t exactly glowing.

When all said and done, we can expect it to hit around $400 million. Given its $200 million budget, that ain’t looking too good for them. When all said and done they may be either just close to breaking even or could very well fall short. With Godzilla vs. Kong on the way, that certainly isn’t the trajectory they want to be on.

Hopefully, though, they’ll be able to course correct and still follow through with the monster mashup we’ve all been waiting for.
