Gotham: The Fate of [SPOILER]

*This Post Contains Spoilers For Gotham Seasons 1 and 3*

Characters come back to life often in the comics and Fox’s Batman adaptation, Gotham, is no different. After having been killed at the hands of the Penguin during the first season finale, Fish Mooney, played by Jada Pinkett Smith, was brought back to life (with some interesting new abilities) by Dr. Hugo Strange. Fish was killed again at the end of Season 3 at the hands of a Tetch virus infected Jim Gordon, and left fans wondering if she would be brought back again. According to Gotham executive producer, John Stephen, who spoke with ComicBook (via Screen Rant) she will not cheat death again.

“I’m afraid that’s it. Now, that one [death scene] was it. At a certain point, you gotta say ‘Definitely.’ People die at a certain point, and that’s the second or third time they die [in Gotham].”

When she was stabbed by Gordon in the season finale, she whispered to Penguin, “Make this city yours, or burn it to the ground.” This always seemed like a pretty good indication that she wouldn’t be coming back. For the show this is probably best. They don’t want to overdo the coming back to life bit, especially when you consider we probably haven’t seen the last of the Lazurus pit. Fish was a good character and provided an interesting origin life for the man who is now known as the Penguin. It was Fish Mooney who employed a young Oswald Cobblepot and under her employment is where he learned a lot of his criminal ways. Back then the Penguin was a mere umbrella boy before starting down a much more chaotic path.

What do you think, should they have left it open to bring Fish Mooney back, or should she stay gone? Let us know in the comments down below!
