The director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, James Gunn, after answering a question on Twitter, has apparently confirmed that there will at least be one postcredit scene. Either that, or he REALLY wants us to see the “no harm has been done to any animals in this film” scroll that is in almost every movie. He had this to say:

In almost every MCU movie there has been some type of post-credits scene which leads into the next film, or at least an upcoming film. For example, in Doctor Strange, he was sitting with Thor magically filling up his beer mug. That scene was obviously meant for Thor: Ragnarok. So let’s take a look at some upcoming films which the post-credits scene could tease towards.

Spider-Man: Homecoming: Nope.

Thor: Ragnarok: High possibility. We have heard over-and-over that there will be neither Infinity Stones or Thanos in this feature film, however that does not necessarily mean that a scene, after the film has completed, could include one or the other. We know Ragnarok has been inspired by the comic book Planet Hulk, so it is possible he could tease of a “certain power” that is on the battle planet, i.e. the Soul Stone.

Black Panther: Nope.

Avengers: Infinity War: Highest Possibility. This will be the next time we see The Guardians, and perhaps the tease is the catalyst which sends The Guardians to Star-Lord’s (Peter Quill) home planet, in an effort to stop Thanos. I am sure Drax will have something to say about this.

Additionally, I have had a few other theories about a post-credits scene in GotG2. Primarily, this could show the first time Captain Marvel gets a glimpse of her abilities. Ihave had commenters laugh at me for this, but anyone that reads the books knows that her powers are Kree based. Unless Thanos arrives with a legion of Kree Warriors, I am not sure how else she could acquire her abilities. Now it is possible that she will simply be a normal human in Avengers: Infinity War, and somehow the original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) passes it on to her, in her own self-titled movie, but that would be a terrible buildup.

Secondly, I am starting to suspect that the Jupiter Ascending-looking, emotionless council that Ayesha controls is not the actual villains of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. I truly believe that Ego, The Living Planet is really the big bad of the movie — Peter’s father. Ego may not be evil, but in the comics he doesn’t exactly differentiate between right and wrong. What if Thanos actually takes control of Ego and sends a Jenova-like (Final Fantasy 7 fans will know this) planet on a direct collision course with Earth? Thanos may only need to bribe Ego in order to save Peter’s life, to accomplish this.

Finally, we could simply have Drax and Groot dancing to another song. Who knows? I can promise you this, I will be at the premiere with pen in hand and a notebook recording my thoughts, and will review the second movie of my favorite franchise as soon as I leave the theater.

Any fan theories here? What could the post-credit scene/scenes be? Take your fingers, put them on the keyboard, and type your response below. Thanos commands it!
