Halloween: First Wave Of Reactions Hit And Say This Is the Best One Since The Original Halloween

Everyone and their gran has had a go and making a Halloween movie and yet despite the first Halloween being my favourite horror movie of all time, I just didn’t care for any of the sequels. Most of the sequels are poorly made low budget nonsense and even then the franchise has had several reboot attempts which have failed to make any kind of cultural impact like the original John Carpenter movie did.

Now the franchise is being rebooted again and this time, like every other time, they say they are going to get it right. Jamie Lee Curtis once again reprises her role as Laurie Strode, after several reprisals in various other reboot attempts. Could this version of Halloween directed by David Gordon Green be any better? The director and the films producers have made a point about this being a direct sequel to the original 70’s classic, whilst ignoring all of the sequels in between. That grabbed my attention in itself, but would it be any good?

The movie was shown on Saturday night at TIFF’s (Toronto International Film Festival) Midnight Madness event and some early reactions from those in attendance have surfaced on social media. Here are just a few selections from the list of hundreds who posted, and so far things are sounding very positive.

As said above these are just a few of the better described initial reactions I have selected and there are a ton more out there in social media. The vast majority of these first reactions are really positive and whilst some felt that the humor didn’t always work, it definitely seems like unlike every other Halloween movie of the last 40 years, this one might be worth a cinema visit finally?

I certainly am planning to see this now after hearing all this positivity, what about you? Are you planning to see Halloween in theaters or will you give it a miss, despite the positive word of mouth? Sound off in the usual place below.
