Halloween Producer Jason Blum Says They’re Open To Sequel

I know. It’s the obvious headline of the century, isn’t it? After all, Halloween as up there as one of the more sequelized franchises out there. Why on God’s green earth would we assume that this new sequel/reboot would be any different in whether or not the filmmakers would be up for a sequel?

But Halloween isn’t just a normal film. It isn’t a standard continuation we’ve learned to love or hate. This is a follow-up to the original film — one that ignores all the other movies that followed said original. Additionally, it’s a film that seems to take itself very seriously, and based on what we’ve heard from viewers who have seen the film, that’s to the movie’s benefit. Assuming it does well, can we expect the studio to crank out another one?

Speaking with Forbes, film producer Jason Blum revealed they’d be open to it:

“I’d love to do sequels, and I hope we do a sequel and we will do a sequel if the movie performs. We’re not going to decide if we do a sequel or not until we see the reaction to this movie. But I really hope to make it.”

But where can this film possibly leave things so that a sequel is possible? Of course, we can’t tell you that — nor would we want to actually spoil it for any audiences.

But I’ll be honest with you — I don’t like the idea of a sequel. while I do like the idea of this movie being successful, there is something impactful about following up a film 40 years later and giving it a definitive ending. It’s very poetic and meaningful, and while I understand the economics behind it, I wish the idea of a sequel was off the table.
