Hawkeye: Producer Amy Berg Laments Missed Opportunity At Marvel Studios

Hawkeye Trailer Shoots And Scores - It's A Very Marvel Christmas

As successful as Marvel Studios has been over the past 11 years, we all know that success comes at a price. Not every idea can be heard and not every talent can be obliged on every project. It’s just the reality of the creative process, and it has lost the MCU some great talents like Edgar Wright and Patty Jenkins. But now, it seems like another filmmaker was lost more recently.

Producer and writer Amy Berg, who is best known for shows like Caper, Eureka, Person of Interest, and Leverage recently took to Twitter to pour one out for herself regarding the Hawkeye series, which she was up for. Here’s what she said.

“I haven’t lost out on many jobs over my career, but I lost out on one today that stings just a bit. Sad to say, you’re not going to see my take on these two. I think you would’ve loved it.”

But for those thinking Berg is posting this out of saltiness, then look no further than her follow-up tweets, which indicate now ill will toward Marvel Studios or anyone involved in the iteration of Hawkeye they ultimately went with:

“Thanks, everyone. But I have five other jobs. I’ll be okay. Plus Kevin Feige and everyone at Marvel are quite wonderful. So I imagine you’ll see me doing something at some point in the MCU. It was down between me and someone else. And I’ve since learned that someone else is a friend of mine. Couldn’t be happier for them. And no I’m not saying more than that. I’m still under an NDA. Suck it, bloggers. :)”

Okay, well I think I’m now contractually obligated to suck it. Excuse me.
