HBO Has Ordered A Series From Jordan Peele!

Jordan Peele is hot, hot, hot right now! After attaining fame in Comedy Central’s popular sketch show, Key and Peele, Jordan Peele and Keegen-Michael Key were catapulted into movies, starting with Keanu. Keanu‘s success is nothing compared to that of Peele’s smash hit Get Out, which he wrote and directed. The film earned Peele’s production company, Monkeypaw Productions, a first-look film deal with Universal Pictures. Now it looks like Peele is returning his sights to the land of TV.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that HBO has given Lovecraft Country a straight-to-series order. Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is creating the show with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television, based on the 2016 novel Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff. The hour-long series will be written by Misha Green, executive producer on Underground. She will also serve as the showrunner.

The drama is being described as an “anthological horror series that reclaims genre storytelling from the African-American perspective.” Lovecraft Country focuses on 25-year-old Atticus Black, who travels across 1950s Jim Crow America to find his missing father, aided by his childhood friend Letitia and his Uncle George. They encounter the racist terrors of white America and malevolent spirits in their search.

There are currently no actors attached to the project, nor is there a release date for the HBO series. But with this subject matter, it appears Lovecraft Country is very capable hands. Jordan Peele is going to crush it once again!
