Hellboy Red Band Trailer Brings The R Rated Action

It would be fair to say that the first trailer for Hellboy starring David Harbour was met with a collective meh from audiences. Even director Neil Marshall commented that the first trailer didn’t really represent what the movie was.

Well, now we have the red band trailer to view and the important question is whether this latest trailer is more attractive to prospective audiences? I cannot speak for everyone, but this latest trailer piqued my interest a little more. Also speaking to various friends who have managed to catch this new trailer, I would say most are going with the idea that this one looks better, but they still have some concerns about the movie, as do I.

The main criticism I am hearing is regarding the humor and that it feels forced instead of natural, the positives being that the action looks decent and this universe fits for an R rated movie. Hellboy hits theaters on April 12 which is now not far away at all. The problem I can see is whether audiences will bother seeing it in theaters when it is surrounded by the lies of Captain Marvel, Shazam and Avengers: Endgame.

I can’t answer that question for you personally, but for me I am thinking of catching this new take on Hellboy when it appears for home release and that’s probably not what Lionsgate Studios are hoping to hear. I do wonder why they thought releasing this movie right bang in the middle of these huge tent pole movies seemed a good idea? Could it not have dropped a few weeks ago and perhaps caught audiences who haven’t seen a blockbuster now since the holiday season?

What do you think of the latest trailer for Hellboy, excited, confused, melancholic? Let us know what you think of Hellboy and whether you are going to see it in the comments below.
