Netflix’s The Witcher could go one of two ways for me, it could live up to my expectations and be one of the best of the upcoming fantasy TV shows, or it could feel like a cheesy watered down version of The Witcher. I really can’t gauge which way it will go because all we have seen so far is a few leaked set photo’s.
We now know thanks to Variety that Netflix hopes to drop the first season of The Witcher some time later this year and that is expected to be eight episodes long (hour long episodes). I have always had my doubts about Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt, so maybe it will take some official teaser to get my past my own prejudice and get on the hype train.

While the following picture from Henry Cavill is I guess official, it doesn’t really give us a glimpse of Cavill in the role of Geralt of Rivia. Instead Cavill’s Instagram post below just shows us a little bit of make up work done on his body whilst he remains out of costume. Check it out.

What this should perhaps confirm is that there will be shots of Geralt out of his armour and bare chested, and lets face it, the sex appeal of this will please the ladies and gentleman that like seeing Cavill’s buff body. It does seem worryingly to me, to be the main reason Cavill was chosen for the role and I hope I’m dead wrong. If we go by the games and the books, then Geralt is no stranger to bedding any women he can get the opportunity with. Could be that Cavill is filming a love scene and requires the body scarring, I certainly hope he doesn’t just wander around with his top off a lot so they can show off his body.
I guess we shall see more once we get closer to the release of this show, and I am certainly hoping my worries are paranoid and this is a great adaptation.
Are you excited by Netflix’s The Witcher, worried about Cavill in the role like me or just happy to see what they come up with? Hmm, that humming, a place of power must be near, go find it in the usual spot below.
