His Dark Materials: Season 2 Adds Three New Cast Members

His Dark Materials is currently on Episode 3 of Season 1, with Episode 4 due to hit BBC this Sunday and HBO on Monday. We already know that the show has been renewed for Season 2 and filming should be underway on that soon. Now we have a report around three new cast members being added for Season 2.

Redanian Intelligence, who normally covers news for The Witcher, has revealed details of the new cast members for Season 2.

Firstly, we have Remmie Milner who plays the witch Lena Feldt. Her character first appears in the second book The Subtle Knife in the entourage of Serafina Pekkala (Ruta Gedmintas), the Queen of the Lake Ennara Witches. Season 2 of His Dark Materials will cover mostly the content from The Subtle Knife, so this makes perfect sense. I won’t give much away on her role, but this becomes quite a nice part for Milner as the story evolves.

Secondly, we have Robin Pearce who is laying archaeologist Oliver Payne, a character who makes an important discovery about Dust, which of course is the central MacGuffin of this story. Finally, actor Henry Miller in the role of ‘Porter’. Now Porter is not a character name from the books, so one wonders if this simply refers to the job his character is doing in the show, this seems perhaps a smaller part than the previous two new cast members mentioned. Though I guess that remains to be seen, since we don’t know for sure who he is playing?

The most important role for Season 2 was cast some time ago, that of Will Parry, the character that will become co-lead of the narrative along with Dafne Keen’s Lyra. You can check out the official social media post from His Dark Materials showcasing young actor Amir Wilson below from this past June.

We actually already saw an image in a photograph of Will Parry aka Amir Wilson in this week’s episode of Season 1 ‘The Spies’ and one does wonder whether we could see Wilson appearing as Will Parry before the end of Season 1. We all just assumed he would not appear until Season 2 because his character doesn’t appear in the books until The Subtle Knife, however, it is possible the way things are going that they could try to introduce Will and show his life leading up to the point where he first meets Lyra in this season of the show. It’s going to be interesting to see for sure. You can check out our review of His Dark Materials Episode 3 in the related section below.
