Hobbs & Shaw Director Says They Almost Revealed Their Secret Villain

If you managed to take in the vile garbage fire that was Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (if you liked the movie, that’s cool, but holy hell was I disappointed as a Fast & Furious lover), then you may have walked away from the movie slightly irked. Not only was the main villain taken out almost unceremoniously, but it turns out he was just a pawn of some bigger, badder villain. And that villain was…it was never revealed!

What’s worse is that the voice was revealed to be played by Ryan Reynolds by the filmmakers, really warping the entire dynamic of the movie, given Reynolds’ actual role in the movie. They’d gone on to say that they don’t really know who the villain is yet and basically have leeway to change it down the line.

This makes the next piece of news is a bit weird to me, because, as it turns out, they almost revealed the villain in the actual movie, as David Leitch revealed to Collider.

“There were moments where we were going to do the big reveal of the voice, and we were circling people at the time who might be the reveal of the voice, but as the movie was taking shape, and there were all these cameos coming in…the movie didn’t really need more characters.”

Personally, I find that to be an odd choice because it’s not like revealing the voice would have been a “new character,” as the character was already in the movie to begin with, but I guess it’d be an extra layer to eventually deal with.

But, as Leitch stated, we’re not supposed to know who the voice is yet, and given that they don’t seem to know who it is themselves anymore yet, I don’t quite see the point in speculating…but what the hell. Who do you think if the villain? Let us know down below!
