How Has The Game Of Thrones Finale Not Been Spoiled Yet?

We live in a spoiler-heavy world. If you’re not careful, without even trying to, you can inadvertently stumble upon a big spoiler to some of the biggest film and TV projects out there. This is usually thanks to snooping sites like ours or even crazier paparazzi who go to ridiculous lengths to capture even the most mundane of images from the sets of these films and TV shows.

In the past, we’ve seen these types of images surface for Game of Thrones. More specifically, we had several batches of images that hinted at the great meeting between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. But you may have noticed that the overall buzz outside of hints at a huge battle (no surprise there) has been…kind of nonexistent. So how did they do it? Well, it looks like they’ve gone to interesting lengths to ensure secrecy.

According to a report from the EW, HBO has utilized “drone killer” technology to prevent nosey aerial cameras from snooping in on the production. Here’s what actress Sophie Turner said about this at last weekend’s New York Comic Con:

“If a drone flies above sets, there’s a thing that can kill the drones, which is really cool. It creates a field around it and the drones just drop. It’s very X-Men.”

This technology, according to the Los Angeles Times, usually used only by cops in life or death situations, so it makes sense they’d use it for a TV show, right? Essentially, the device looks like a gun and is used to shoot at targets within a half-mile range.

Of course, these weren’t the only anti-leak tactics. Perhaps most importantly, they keep everyone on a need to know basis, not unlike what Marvel Studios did with Avengers: Infinity War, a film that kept its secrets up until its release. To do this, Game of Thrones nixed paper scripts, and actors can only access them through a secure app.

Are you happy to hear about these extreme measures, or do you wish to hear even the slightest bit of spoilers for the impending final season of Game of Thrones? Let us know your thoughts down below!
