Star Wars – Kathleen Kennedy Says The Addition Of Palpatine To Episode IX Has Been In The Works For Some Time

That laugh. Star Wars fans know what I’m referring to. The infamous laugh of one Sheev Palpatine at the end of the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The fact that the Emperor is back for the final installment of Disney’s has excited and perplexed fans, with some thinking it’s pandering to the haters of The Last Jedi, as well as Disney not having any original ideas.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy recently spoke with Yahoo! News and revealed that plans to use Palpatine have been in motion for some time now. You can check out what she had to say below.

“This has been in the blueprint for a long time, yeah. We had not landed on exactly how we might do that, but yes, it was always [to be in Episode IX],”

Persoanlly, I am a huge fan of Palpatine, especially the prequel version as well as the one seen in the animated shows. As for his return to the films, I am excited, but on the other hand wonder how his return will effect certain events from past films such as Vader’s redemption.
