Audience enthusiasm for Pixar’s Incredibles 2 remains high as it has officially passed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office less than two weeks after its release. Directed by Brad Bird, it is the sequel to The Incredibles which came out back in 2004 to critical and audience acclaim.

The film has already proved to be a success for Disney/Pixar, thanks to its superpowered first week at the domestic box office, where it broke several animation records, posting record returns for the single day and weekend box office, which is impressive since it hasn’t had a very wide international release thanks to the World Cup. Given the way it has been performing so far, don’t be surprised if it takes in over $1 bn at the box office.

So far the reviews for Incredibles 2 have been overwhelmingly positive, scoring a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is expected to take over a billion dollars by the end of its run, outperforming the first movie, which grossed $633 million worldwide upon its release. It is expected to open up in a few more major markets over the next few weeks, including the UK, where the first movie was also popular.

I personally enjoyed Incredibles 2, and think the movie deserves all of the money and acclaim that it is receiving. I do, however, know a few people that do not like it and call it pedantic, audience-pleasing fluff, despite enjoying the first one.

What about you, do you think Incredibles 2 deserves all the money and acclaim it is receiving?
