Insidious Could Cross Over With Sinister

Shared universes are a huge thing, right? The Marvel Cinematic Universe is making huge strides in cinematic storytelling, and while others struggle to replicate its success, one horror franchise — The Conjuring —  has managed to make a shared universe of their own over the course of its run.

However, it’s possible that The Conjuring won’t be sitting alone on its shared universe horror island for much longer. According to Blumhouse Productions founder Jason Blum, we may see a crossover between two other well-known horror franchises. In fact, it had already almost been done before in the past.

“We almost did Insidious and Sinister and I still feel like we might do that so, I think so. I think we’re going to cross our worlds at some point. I don’t know how yet but we’re gonna try.”

Sounds like a promising idea, but we’ll see how they end up doing it. As it stands, the studio has done a great job of keeping the budgets low and the concepts high on their feature. I do worry that by doing anything else other than a standard sequel, it would result in the kind of franchise bloat they’ve been avoiding.
